How do you collect the data you rely on?

Our AI model was trained on a scientifically controlled dataset developed in close cooperation with the Biorobotics Lab at Freie Universität Berlin. All recordings were collected under ethically sound conditions, no animal was stressed, harmed or placed in situations against its will. Trained animal behavior experts accompanied and annotated every recording. Our growing dataset is built together with dog schools and dog experts. We receive not just audio, but complete video recordings with contextual information: What triggered the dog in that moment? What happened before? What was the situation? This allows us to not only analyse the bark, but to cross-reference it with body language. Ear position, body posture & movement, all of this feeds into the assessment and makes our emotion recognition significantly more precise than pure audio models. Every new recording improves the model. As a backer, you are part of that.

Will Voicari Series 1.0 work for my dog's breed and size?

The Voicari Series 1.0 is designed for dogs above 15 kg. For smaller dogs, the Voicari Mini Series is coming soon, sign up and we will let you know the moment it is available. Our AI model was trained on vocalisations from dogs of varying breeds and ages, so if you are unsure whether it fits your dog, reach out before pledging and we will advise.

Is the collar waterproof?

A Voicari membership gives you a lower-cost way to try the wearable and its AI-powered insights, without paying the full hardware price upfront. Your Voicari membership includes the wearable itself, unlimited emotion timelines and trends, and exportable health reports. Family sharing is included too, so you can invite family, friends, or a dog sitter to your dog's profile.

Can I get a new device if I'm already a member?

When you join Voicari, your membership includes the wearable at no extra cost. After that, existing members would be able to upgrade to future hardware generations at any time for a one-time hardware fee, without needing to cancel or restart their membership. This keeps your membership continuous while getting you new hardware at a discount.

Voicari does not diagnose separation anxiety, but it helps you notice the signs early. While you are away, Voicari reads your dog's bark events together with vital signs, then shows which emotional states appear and when. That lets you see whether your dog settles after you leave or stays distressed, and share a clear timeline with your vet or trainer.

Why does my dog bark when left alone?

Dogs bark when alone for different reasons: distress at being separated, alertness to sounds outside, boredom, or seeking attention. The bark alone does not tell you which. Voicari pairs each bark event with your dog's body signals, so instead of just hearing that your dog barked, you see the emotional state behind it, for example lonely (missing you) versus alert versus playful. Understanding the reason is the first step to addressing it.

Is Voicari a pet camera or an anti-bark collar?

No. Voicari is a canine emotion wearable, not a camera and not an anti-bark device. It never shocks, vibrates, sprays, or deters your dog. Where a camera shows you footage you still have to interpret, Voicari interprets your dog's own signals and tells you the emotional state. It does not try to stop your dog barking; it helps you understand why the barking happens.

Health Alerts are sent to your email or via the app if your dog's activity, sleep, vitals, or scratching have shown unusual changes over a longer period. This could be a sign of a potential health problem. These alerts are especially useful when your buddy is trying to hide their pain, or when their symptoms are almost invisible.

Yes, and it adds a layer trackers leave out. Voicari Series 1.0 provides GPS location tracking, activity tracking, and sleep tracking, plus resting heart rate and resting respiratory rate. On top of that location and health data, it reads your dog's vocalizations to surface emotional state, which pure trackers do not do. So you get the "where" and the "how they are doing" in one device, not just a dot on a map.

GPS trackers such as Fi and Tractive tell you where your dog is and how much it moves. Voicari includes that location, activity, and sleep tracking, then adds heart rate, respiratory rate, and real-time emotional insight from your dog's vocalizations. The difference in one line: a tracker tells you where your dog is, Voicari tells you how your dog feels and how they are doing. It is a wellbeing and emotion device first, with tracking built in, not a location tracker with extras.

Is the collar always listening? What about my conversations and home privacy?

The collar microphone is active; but here is what matters: an on-device AI filter runs directly on the collar in real time. It continuously separates your dog's vocalisations from all other sounds. Only confirmed dog bark events are ever processed or transmitted to the app. Conversations, background noise, music, and anything that is not your dog's voice never leave the collar. Your home stays private at all times.

Is my dog's data private and secure?

Yes. Voicari is fully GDPR-compliant. All data is processed and stored on EU servers (AWS Frankfurt) and is never sold to third parties. You own your data. You can delete your account and all associated recordings at any time.

What happens when my 12-month membership ends?

After your first year, your membership renews at our standard annual rate. You can cancel at any time. Your collar continues to work with any active membership. Founders Circle backers receive a lifetime membership with no renewal required.
